Sanbolic Provides High Availability for Citrix Provisioning Server

Sanbolic Provides High Availability for Citrix Provisioning Server

Watertown, MA (PRWEB) January 30, 2008

Sanbolic, Inc., a leading developer of software to simplify and share SAN storage, today announced that Melio 2008 and LaScala 2008 have been certified by Citrix® for its Provisioning Server™ products. As a part of the certification process Citrix (NASDAQ CTXS) completed extensive performance testing of the combined solution. Some of the results are published in Delivering a Highly-Available Citrix Provisioning Server using Sanbolic Melio FS on the Citrix website.

Citrix Provisioning Server’s (PVS) datacenter and desktop products deliver virtualized images – operating systems, core applications and configuration information – on-demand to physical or virtual servers and desktop from a network service, reducing total cost of ownership, and improving manageability and business agility.

Sanbolic’s products are designed to support Windows applications which benefit from central administration of a large virtual storage pool accessed by multiple physical or virtual servers, and to provide concurrent shared read and write access to a shared file system from multiple servers.

In Citrix PVS installations, Sanbolic software allows the configuration data base, the virtualized images, called vDisks, and target device write caches to be stored on a shared volume on SAN storage. This enables I/O requests to be load balanced, and allows servers and desktops provisioned using PVS to operate normally even if a physical server running PVS were to fail.

“With its ability to simplify and streamline server and desktop configuration, delivery, maintenance and management, as well as extend Citrix Presentation Server application delivery and XenServer server virtualization capabilities, Citrix Provisioning Server is a very powerful and versatile solution,” said N. Louis Shipley, Citrix Vice President. “Sanbolic provides customers with an attractive option to implement highly available Provisioning Server architectures with SAN storage.”

Sanbolic software currently supports Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows Server 2008. Sanbolic distributes its product solutions worldwide through a network of distributors, OEMs, VARs and system integrators.

Sanbolic will be exhibiting this solution at the Citrix Summit in Orlando January 28-30.

Sanbolic’s Clustered File System Adds Support for NFS Scale Out and Improved Virtual Disk Performance

Sanbolic’s Clustered File Technique Adds Help for NFS Scale Out and Enhanced Virtual Disk Performance

Dallas (PRWEB) October 14, 2008

Sanbolic’s Melio clustered file program now supports extended attributes, enabling scale out of NFS file services. Melio has also enhanced performance for pass by means of block storage applications, such as virtual disk files.

Melio FS is already getting utilized for scale out of CIFS-based file services from Windows file server by allowing many file servers to read and write from a single file technique on a SAN volume. Clientele on the network see a single file system which can be accessed even though any of the file servers on the cluster. The addition of extended attributes enables scale-out clusters of Windows file server for NFS file services as well. This remedy uses native Windows tools which includes Network Load Balancing. “Scale-out of file services utilizing clusters of price-effective market regular hardware is becoming increasingly important as file-based storage now is the fastest expanding segment of enterprise storage” said Noemi Greyzdorf, storage analyst at IDC.

Sanbolic has also added capability to help pass by means of of block objects such as virtual disk files without having imposing any file method overhead. “Server virtualization has a dependency on shared storage to enable virtual machine availability and migration, and virtual server performance is extremely dependant on storage performance. Sanbolic has drastically increased performance of pass-by means of block objects like virtual disks, and has embedded performance monitoring and high quality of service tools in the file program” stated Momchil Michailov, founder of Sanbolic. “This tends to make Melio FS an ideal item for enabling shared SAN storage for virtualization environments.”

Sanbolic’s Melio file clustered file technique and LaScala clustered volume manager install easily on physical or virtual servers, and can employ any fibre channel or iSCSI storage hardware. Windows active directory, DFS, and clustering capabilities are supported.

Sanbolic computer software at present supports Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows Server 2008, including Server Core. Sanbolic distributes its product options worldwide through a network of distributors, OEMs, VARs and method integrators.

Sanbolic will be exhibiting at the Storage Networking Planet in Dallas on October 14 and 15.
